On October 29th, the AAJLJ filed two amicus briefs with the US Supreme Court. The cases Federal Republic of Germany, et al., v. Alan Philipp, et al., and Republic of Hungary, et al., v. Rosalie Simon, et al., both deal with efforts by victims and the heirs of victims of the genocidal takings of property and assets by the Nazi regimes in Germany and Hungary from the mid-1930’s to 1945, to recover compensation from those countries for the takings. The principal respondents (plaintiffs) in both cases are American citizens.
